Emma Volz

Emma Volz is a documentary filmmaker from Mesa, Arizona, whose work examines portraits of female resilience and familial efforts to cultivate communal folklore, traditions, language and religion. Emma graduated with a BA in media arts studies from Brigham Young University and is a current MFA student at Duke University.

Jackie Biggs

Jackie Bodily Biggs is a graduate student at Brigham Young University studying music with Dr. Holden. Biggs has won first place at the BYU concerto competition in November 2024, the American Protégé Competition in June 2024 and the University of Utah Liszt Festival and Competition in November 2023.

Doug Nuttall

Doug Nuttall is from Chicago, Illinois, and is a senior at BYU studying advertising and film. Nuttall has held a variety of campus jobs and worked on dozens of advertising and film projects. He has been a content creator, director, cinematographer, writer, producer, sound mixer and photographer. Nuttall loves working with cameras, actors and brands to tell compelling stories.

Jihea Hong-Park

Jihea Hong-Park is a Korean American pianist and associate professor of piano at Brigham Young University. Hong-Park has presented at numerous conferences, symposiums and institutions of higher education. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The Juilliard School and pursued postgraduate studies at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Scott Holden

Scott Holden is a professor at Brigham Young University and is a faculty member at Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard, where has taught since 2017. He has performed in more than forty states, as well as throughout Europe and in Asia. Holden earned degrees from the University of Michigan (BM), The Juilliard School (MM) and The Manhattan School of Music (DMA).

Alexandra Mackenzie Johns

Alexandra Mackenzie Johns is a playwright, director, scholar and educator. She is now an associate professor at BYU teaching playwriting within theatre arts studies. Johns’ passion for theatre has taken her across the globe — currently, she is working on various projects exploring the relationship between landscape and religious performance.

Tom Russell

Thomas (Tom) Russell is a professor of media arts at Brigham Young University where he teaches screenwriting and advanced directing courses. His work as a director and writer has been recognized by many prestigious festivals, and he and his wife Courtney conduct the BYU Writer’s Conference.

Courtney Russell

Courtney Russell has spent the last 18 years working as a freelance producer, casting director, location manager and consultant for short and feature-length films. Russell also acts as co-coordinator for the BYU Writer’s Conference program. She has also taught beginning film production management, advanced fiction production, and faculty mentored special projects at BYU.
