Bio
Curt W. Holman is a renowned choreographer and a full professor of Dance at Brigham Young University. A former professional ballroom dancer with international recognition, Holman has over 30 years of experience in the ballroom dance discipline, earning national and international acclaim for his innovative work. Holman’s leadership with the BYU Ballroom Dance Company has led to several championship titles, including the prestigious Open British Champion title in Blackpool, England. His notable choreography for professional cabaret ballroom dance couples has also resulted in world championship titles.
Holman is particularly recognized for his unique ability to adapt the couple-based discipline of ballroom dance for large ensemble work, setting him apart as a leader in ballroom dance theatrical choreography. Brian McDonald, President of the National Dance Council of America, describes the BYU Ballroom Dance Company as a "national treasure" within the ballroom dance world. Holman choreographs and produces a 90-minute ballroom dance extravaganza, which has been performed over 40 times across Europe, Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.
In addition to his choreographic prowess, Holman excels in coaching and mentoring students in technique and performance theory, helping to shape the next generation of dancers and choreographers.
