Kelly Loosli

Bio

Kelly Loosli is a 34-year veteran of the entertainment industry having worked extensively in live action and animation for leading companies including DreamWorks Feature Animation and Buena Vista Motion Pictures (the live action feature film division of Disney).

Mr. Loosli has been responsible for supervising and coordinating global production efforts on various projects, including work in Hungary, Spain, the Czech Republic, Canada, Norway, England and Ireland.

As the co-creator of the Animation Program at Brigham Young University Loosli currently serves as the director of the Center for Animation.

In the 20 years that the Brigham Young University Animation program has been competing with films they have won 22 Student Emmy Awards (Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Award, 4 of those for music) and 7 Student Academy Awards (Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences). Their films have played all over the globe.

Ed Catmull (Co-creator and former President of Pixar Animation Studios and President of Walt Disney Animation) stated, “All of a sudden, in the last few years, we have found BYU has risen to the top. BYU has an extraordinary program here.” Pixar and Sony Animation Studios/Sony Imageworks actively mentor the program. Additionally Disney, DreamWorks, Lucas Film, Weta Digital, Warner Brothers Games, Epic, and Blizzard all actively recruit the graduates.

In 2010 Variety (trade magazine) listed Loosli as one of the top ten professors in film and animation.

As part of his creative scholarly work Loosli is currently producing seasons 3 and 4 of Saving Me, an animated series for BYU Broadcasting, and a limited animated series for the Chick-fil-A Corporation.

Kelly Loosli earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts from Brigham Young University in 1996, and currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife and two children.
